Krakow Information
KRAKOW is a city of tradition and great opportunities, the city of Polish kings, the city of Pope John Paul II. It was established over a thousand years ago on the Vistula River bank and by the 17th century it was the capital of Poland. Krakow – one of the oldest Polish cities - draws attention thanks to many historic attractions such as the Wawel Royal Castle, Saint Mary’s Basilica or Cloth Hall.
In 1978 the specific architecture of the Old Town with one of the biggest Europe’s squares and ancient Kazimierz Jewish District was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
A walk through the city, particularly in the evenings when the streets, historic tenement houses and churches (there are over a hundred of them in Krakow only) are illuminated, is an unusual
experience. Visiting of the cafés and pubs located in every street may be interesting too. Diverse, original interiors of more than 400 clubs and restaurants situated in remarkable Krakow’s tenement houses will enrapture every visitor.
It is also a city of modern industries which is reflected in projects of such international tycoons as: Motorola, International Paper, Man, IBM, Philip Morris, or RR Donnelly.
